Four of our oldest Eclipse teams participated in the Come Up For Air tournament in South Lake Tahoe over the weekend of September 14-15. While all of the players, coaches and families had plenty of fun off of the field, there were some great memories made on the field as well. Both of our 01/02 Boys teams escaped tough groups to advance to the semifinals of the tournament. While the Solar boys fell 2-1 in the semifinals, the Lunar boys were able to advance to the final. In the final, the Lunar boys faced off against Sacramento United who had beat them in group play Saturday. A very competitive match ended with an Eclipse victory in overtime and the team’s second consecutive tournament title (Stanford in August). Not to be outdone, the 01/02 Girls won a dramatic PK shootout in the semifinals to face off with a very strong Elk Grove team in the final. Similar to the boys, it was a rematch with the only team to beat them over the weekend. The girls held strong and scored the winner in overtime to claim the title. Congrats to all of our players, coaches and teams on a hard-fought and fun weekend in Tahoe!
