Congratulations to Riad, Grady, Maya, Kevin and Josh for earning our monthly honors for July 2019!
Head Coach of the Month: Riad Alameddine
Riad is in his first season as a head coach with Eclipse, although he has been a long-term supporter of the club, as his twin brother, Tarek, is in his eighth season. Riad is coaching our 2010 Girls Solar Black team this season and has provided a positive environment full of energy for the girls. Through that energy, he is helping build a passion for learning the game of soccer. He has also shown a heavy commitment to his coaching education, as he has attended all of our internal options and earned a United Soccer Coaches diploma.
Assistant Coach of the Month: Grady Eglin
Grady is in his second season as an assistant coach, although he has been involved with Eclipse since 2012 as a player, Coach in Training and now assistant coach. He has been one of our strongest assistant coaches over the past two seasons, often demonstrating what it takes to be a head coach (hopefully for us once he finishes up college!). Grady connects well with the kids, while still promoting a high level of discipline and work ethic.
Coach in Training of the Month: Maya Stelzer
Maya is in her first season as a Coach in Training with us and also plays on our 04 Lunar Girls team. As a CIT at our Friday U9-U13 Play Days, she has demonstrated responsibility and a commitment to ensuring a positive experience for the kids. As a result of her work, she was recently recommended by U11-U14 Girls Director John Nakanishi to work with an older team to further her coaching development.
Adult Referee of the Month: Kevin Desai
Kevin was our busiest referee in the month of July. If you had a home game, there is a good chance you saw him out there. Despite having four of his own kids playing in the club, Kevin regularly commits his time to stepping into referee to help out all of the kids in Eclipse. He also stepped in to mentor one of our youth referees (Josh, below) in his first time as a center referee.
Youth Referee of the Month: Josh Morganstein
As one of our newer faces to the referee staff this summer, Josh has worked hard to gain valuable experience and improve his knowledge and ability as a referee. In addition to gaining experience as an assistant referee, Josh also stepped in to his first assignment as a center referee this month.
