The East Bay Eclipse Soccer Club Future Eclipse Program is currently opening spots for the 2018-19 season! This program is for our U8 and younger players, which means 2011, 2012 and 2013 birth years this season (mature 2014 birth years may be considered). To hold your spot, email email@example.com.
Note: For 2010 and older players, visit our Tryouts page.
Our Future Eclipse program offers young players the opportunity to receive coaching from Eclipse staff coaches to create a solid foundation of skills to build on as they get older. The younger a player is taught the correct techniques, the more time they can spend learning more advanced technical and tactical skills as they grow up in our program. While the kids are receiving training from staff coaches on technical skills, Future Eclipse is always fun! Practices have the perfect balance of skills learning and fun games to build a passion for the sport.
From mid-June through the end of October, Future Eclipse has practices twice/week as a group. Future Eclipse players are also able to participate in our spring program for two practices/week that will run mid-March to mid-May.
At practices, the group is typically broken up into smaller “teams” for drills/games. At this age, the games for Future Eclipse are worked into their practice sessions to allow the players ample opportunity to challenge themselves in a competitive environment. Future Eclipse players break into small teams to play 3v3 or 4v4 soccer on a small field with small goals. This style of play maximizes the amount of touches each player gets on the ball in a game setting and keeps them constantly involved in tactical decision-making. This style of play is also high-paced and high-scoring, which means lots of fun for the kids.
By working their “gametime” into training sessions and requiring no weekend commitment, Future Eclipse players are able to easily participate in LMYA or OYA recreational play in the fall as well, as we understand how important it is for kids this age to get to play with all of their friends from school too! As we allow and encourage players to play in the local rec leagues and participate in other sports, commitment/attendance expectations are flexible at this age.
The Future Eclipse Program costs $300 for an entire year of play, so a player signing up this spring would be registered for our summer/fall season of mid-June through the end of October, as well as our Spring Program (mid-March to mid-May) in 2019.
