The Eclipse Family headed down to Pacifica this past weekend for the club’s annual Beach Day. The event gives the kids the chance to play beach soccer, which is played at all levels around the world. Beach soccer is a more physically demanding version of the sport and requires great skill and creativity. In addition to the soccer, the club ties in a charity fundraiser to the event each year. This year’s charity was Soccer Without Borders’s Oakland Chapter, which creates positive team communities for refugee and immigrant youth in the area. Via the “coach bounty program” where coaches have to dive into the freezing cold ocean if families donate in their name, the club raised over $1,500 for Soccer Without Borders. An added bonus was that many of the coaches took a pie to the face after additional fundraising levels were reached!
