Eclipse Teams Play Well at South Bay Tournaments

Some of our older Eclipse teams made the trip to the South Bay the weekend of August 20-21 for the Soccer by the Bay and Stanford Classic tournaments.

At Soccer by the Bay, the U18 Boys Lunar team brought home the top prize, beating a tough Mustang team, 1-0, in the final. The boys played that same Mustang team in their opening game and took a 3-0 loss, which made the championship victory much more sweet. A 2-0 win over Novato in group play and a 3-0 semifinal victory over North State got them to the final. The U14 Boys Lunar team opened their tournament with a 3-1 win over Santa Clara and followed that up with a 2-2 tie against Mustang. The boys advanced to the semifinals where they played an intense, back and forth game that ended in an unfortunate 2-1 loss.

At the Stanford Classic tournament, the U18 Lunar Girls were looking for success after coming off of a tournament title in Dublin the weekend before. The girls rode a 5-0 win in their opening game to a top finish in their group. In the semifinals, they matched up against a rival Mustang team. Unfortunately, the game went to PKs where Mustang came out on top. The U18 Solar Girls improved throughout their tournament and came out with an exciting 2-1 victory over Milpitas in their Sunday game. The U16 Girls also competed in the event and came up just short of qualifying for a final round game. The girls earned a 2-0 victory over Sunnyvale and a 1-1 tie with Mustang. The tournament had to take it to the fourth tiebreaker to determine the girls would not be making a final game.

Great work to all of our teams!
