Congratulations to our September 2015 “of the Month” winners:
Head Coach – Zachary Kaufman
Assistant Coach – Cate Goodman
Referee – Greg Moellering
Our Head Coach of the Month for September 2015 is Zachary Kaufman. Zak coaches our U18 Lunar Boys team this year. In his first year with Eclipse last year, he coached the U12 Boys and U17 Boys. Zak has taken leadership of one of our most competitive teams, despite being a mixed-age team consisting of U16-U18 players. The boys have played in a number of major tournaments this year, including the US Club National Cup West Regionals and the DFC Boys Cup. Their biggest challenge to date was this past weekend at the Monarcas Academy Champions Cup, which is one of the most highly ranked boys tournaments in the country. Zak pushed and challenged the boys to prepare for that event while still maintaining the Eclipse coaching philosophy. In the premier division, the boys made it all the way to the semifinals. Congrats to Coach Zak on his positive leadership of the boys that has pushed them to a higher level of play!
Our Assistant Coach of the Month is Cate Goodman. As part of our Coaches in Training program, Cate helped out with many of our younger girls teams over the course of the summer. During the fall, she has been one of the assistant coaches with our Future Eclipse program and has improved dramatically as a coach. As one of our original Eclipse players (she’s been playing all 5 years), Cate has been able to easily transition into the coaching side by sharing in the Eclipse mission and philosophy.
Our Referee of the Month is Greg Moellering. Despite being a new referee, Greg has immediately become one of our most reliable referees. Serving as a team referee for both of his daughter’s teams, Greg has started piling up the home games. In addition, he’s been Mr. Clutch in September, as he stepped up to ref an away game for one of his daughter’s teams when a ref was needed. He also stepped in to ref multiple games in Stockton when needed. Thanks for your hard work this month, Greg!
