Coaches and Ref of the Month – June 2014

Head Coach of the Month: Norma Sanchez
Coach Norma has made an immediate positive impact in her first month as a head coach for Eclipse. Norma has brought the perfect mix of fun, focus and development to our U11 Lunar Girls team.  As a strong female role model, it is clear that the girls look up to Norma and are inspired to get better at the sport they love. In addition to her work with the U11 Lunar Girls team, Norma has also spent time working with other girls teams in the U13 and U15 age groups. Norma is constantly pushing herself to improve as a coach and recently earned a Level 6 coaching diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Assistant Coach of the Month: Brandon Ibarra
Coach Brandon has immediately taken control of the technical development of our club’s goalkeepers this season. Spending four nights each week at the field with our goalies, Brandon is helping to develop the skills of our goalies, as well as create a passion for the position. As goalies work with Brandon, we are seeing the kids get excited about playing goalie and signing up for more opportunities to work with him.

Coach in Training of the Month: Caroline Sernett
With our 2014 Class of Coaches in Training being one of our strongest groups of young assistant coaches yet, it shows how well Caroline has adapted to her new position. Coach Caroline has stepped in to assist Coach Tarek with the U12 Girls team and has had the confidence to help teach the younger players. She has also already started to form a bond with the younger players.

Referee of the Month: Frances Parsons
Despite being only 13 years old, Frances has stood out in her first month as a referee by being brave. While many young referees are afraid to make the jump from the sideline to center ref, Frances jumped right in. She really showed some guts by working as an assistant referee for a U18 Boys game! Imagine calling someone 4-5 years older than you for offside. With the confidence there, Frances has the foundation in place to be a great referee for years to come.
