Eclipse teams enjoyed the weekend at the Tiburon Fall Kickoff that included great weather, nice fields, and some club success.
The U12 Lunar Boys team led the way with an outstanding defensive effort from the entire team, as the boys shutout all four of their opponents. With no goals allowed and plenty of goals scored, the boys celebrated a championship Sunday afternoon.
The U11 Girls age group had a strong weekend, as both the Lunar and Solar teams found success in their group games. Playing at the same field, the girls from both teams cheered each other on throughout the weekend. At the end of the day Sunday, the Lunar girls headed home with 2nd place trophies, while the Solar girls collected 4th place medals.
The U12 Lunar Girls team fell just short of defending their title. After winning the tournament last year, the girls came in confident. The girls played great soccer all weekend that led them into the championship game. A tie through regulation and overtime put the girls into a penalty shootout. Although the girls lost the shootout, they still earned second place and should feel proud of their continued improvement.
The U13 Boys opened the tournament with a 7-1 victory that had them set to compete for the title. After falling just short in their second game Saturday, the boys were disappointed, but they bounced back Sunday morning with a 6-2 win that sent them into the consolation match. A 4-1 victory in the consolation match had the boys heading home with third place.
Most importantly, the weekend offered a terrific bonding experience for many of our teams who headed down by the water in between games for meals or to hang out. Everyone should feel proud of how they represented the club this weekend! Time to get back to practices to keep improving as we move into the fall!
