Many Eclipse teams got their first physical challenge of the season this past weekend, as they competed at the 6v6 Blowout Tournament hosted by Heritage Soccer Club. Our girls teams took the field on Saturday, while our boys teams played on Sunday. Each team played a total of five 30-minute games throughout the course of the day in the 6v6 format that results in more touches on the ball and a fast-paced game that has every player constantly involved in offense and defense. With temperatures topping 100 degrees all weekend, it was a tournament that was a real test for our teams, but the coaching staff couldn’t be prouder after watching our players play hard all day regardless of the heat or how many subs they had available. The most exciting game of the weekend may have been the final featuring our U13 boys team. The boys went up early 1-0, but they eventually fell behind, 3-1. With only a few minutes left, the team made a push to tie the score and then win it on a last second goal to clinch the championship. The U10 boys (1st place) and U10 girls (2nd place) each went home with medals as well.
